Meet Our Staff

Rabbi Gilah Langner -- Hebrew School Principal and Teacher

I’m thrilled to be the principal of Shoreshim's Hebrew School. I've had the pleasure of getting to know Shoreshim over the last ten years as a rabbinic resource for the community, and I welcome the opportunity to deepen my involvement with the school families in Shoreshim.

I've been a rabbi for eleven years, and I love teaching -- kids, college kids, and adults too!   I do other things as a rabbi as well -- I serve as a chaplain at Georgetown University Hospital. I lead meditation sessions at the Jewish Mindfulness Center of Washington.  And I'm also the principal at Kehila Chadasha's Hebrew School in Bethesda, Md.  I'm originally from Montreal, Canada, and I love going to the beach,  swimming, snorkeling, jigsaw puzzles, and the Sunday crossword.

People sometimes ask me what Jewish denomination I belong to. My answer is, "I'm just Jewish!" I think all parts of Judaism have wonderful things to teach us, and all parts of our Shoreshim community have a lot to contribute.  I look forward to  hearing your ideas and interests, and making this a truly exciting year of study and accomplishment at Shoreshim's Hebrew School!

To all, a good and healthy year ahead!
